Last year was my first year back at gardening and the results were incredible. in fact I could have taken a lot of it to the local farm market but instead chose to share the rewards with family and friends. This year I'm having more fun with the garden design and have incorporated way more flowers too. The triangular design was a last minute idea that is actually working very well for space. I thought that the design would decrease available space for planting and seeding but it has not. In fact I have two spare beds for additional seeding. I hope to use that for later seedings of carrots, Kale and lettuce. All my beds are slighly raised (this is how we grew stuff in Germany in a small space) so I can seed stuff like cucumbers and melons etc. closer together as they can trail into the walkway. All the walks will be covered with old hay from three years ago to cut down on the weeding. Part of the paths are already covered with large rhubarb leaves as well and that is working well for the time being. This garden is completely fenced (Deer control) and is also surrounded by herbs and flowers on the south and east side along the outside of the fence with deer resistant plants.
