The Charles Madison Nabrit Memorial Garden (TCMNMG) opened in 2014. The 3.750 sq. ft. self-sustaining, organic, bio-diverse green space in the midst of an urban food desert provides access to affordable, whole, live fruits and veggies @ $1.00lb at our weekly Farmer's Market & Bake Sale. We use the square foot gardening method in our 38+ raised beds filled w/organic soil enhanced by our composters with our rain barrels, drip irrigation system, 4' gravel walkways, solar path lights and perimeter fencing. Telos Training, Inc. is the 501(c)(3) sponsor, CCAF made the land available, the sons and nephews of Charles Madison Nabrit contributed ALL the labor! Crowd-sourcing support + local partners, e.g., Lowe's, Scott's MiracleGrow, Franklin Park Conservatory's "Growing to Green", McKesson, Saks Fifth Avenue and the United Way made our opening year possible. 2015 promises to be even better!
