Each year, we use the Garden Planner on GrowVeg.com to ensure a healthy garden... being able to rotate crops in the fool-proof way the planner helps us with is one of my secrets! I start a ton of plants inside for a two-three week jump on the growing season here in Ohio; and most are grown from seeds I gather from last year's crops, although I do visit my local nursery to get a few plant starts (or to discover something new to welcome to the Fleck Garden each year). We augment our clay based soil with organics, topsoil aggrigate and straw. I use forms that I move around each season... they go in after I put down black landscaping fabric to drastically reduce the weeding I have to do. Each year, the soil gets treated to 1000 or so worms from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm (order online; they ship each Monday). Drip irigation rounds out my "sorta lazy" growing style and ensures a terrific crop even when others in the area have bad seasons. Happy Gardening!! - Lisa & Donnie Fleck
