Basil 317"5" x 9"Planted amongst Tomatoes
Beans (Bush Snap) 109"5" x 1' 1"DIRECT SOW on June 3rd.
Beans (Pole) 129"5" x 1' 1"DIRECT SOW May 25th
Beet 1245"3" x 7"DIRECT SOW on May 3rd. Planted in beds 10 & 12 on 06/21
Blueberry 12' 11"2' 11" x 2' 11"
Broccoli 61' 5"1' 5" x 1' 5"Bought transplants and planted end of May. UPDATE JUNE 2oth: The heads on the plants in bed #16 were small. They're going to seed so I need to harvest asap. The ones in bed #2 haven't gone to seed yet, buit will harvest today as well. Not sure if it's worthwhile to use the space in the beds for such a low yield veggie. 7/5/13: What little bit I've harvested is delicious, so...maybe save some room for them next year :)
Cabbage (Spring) 92' 5"1' 11" x 2' 11"Bought transplants and planted end of May. 7/5/13: Something is eating my cabbage leaves. Advised to make a collar (like an elizabethan collar for dogs) around plant to deter cutworms. Cabbage moths. Cabbage worms
Carrot 1983"3" x 5"DIRECT SOW on April 30th. I put a layer of straw mulch on top. *Note to self, although it apperas to be germinating ok, I need to water in AM and PM. Also, should apply fertilizer at time of planting NEXT to row. DIRECT SOW next to Beets at end of May. Planted in beds 10 & 12 on 06/21 It appears that I planted them too close together. The green growth on top is abundant but the roots themselves are very small
Cauliflower 41' 7"1' 5" x 1' 11"Bought transplants and planted end of May. 7/5/13: Something is eating my cauliflower leaves. Advised to make a collar (like an elizabethan collar for dogs) around plant to deter cutworms. Also, use a rubberband to band the leaves together at the top (keeps the heads tight and compact as it grows) Did not do well at all. Will not try again.
Chives 17"5" x 9"
Cucumber 81' 11"1' 11" x 1' 11"DIRECT SOW on May 25th.
Dill 77"5" x 9"Planted with Cucumbers
Eggplant 101' 3"1' 1" x 1' 5"Started indoors on March 17th. I need to pay more attention to proper watering of seedlings. They may be ok, but do not look as good as they should. Research to see if I should transplant into larger cow pots. FLEA BEETLES ARE EATING MY EGGPLANTS :-( Tried Neem oil, Diamaceous Earth...so far, nothing has goten rid of the flea beetles.
Feverfew 3011"11" x 11"
Flower 17"5" x 7"
Flower 17"5" x 7"
Gourd 12' 11"2' 11" x 2' 11"
Marigold 507"7" x 7"
Mint 17"5" x 9"
Onions (Green) 63"3" x 3"
Peas 743"3" x 7"I stareted some of these indoors on March 17th. I DIRECT SOWED the other on March 30th. The seeds that were DIRECT SOW appear to be much healthier than the indoor starts.
Pepper 541' 1"11" x 1' 3"STARTED INDDORS on March 17. They appear to be doing well. Started hardening off on May 7th. I planted these outside in raised beds arounfd the middle of May. They're not doing well. Too cold and too much rain. Should wait until after Memorial Day to plant outside. Possible floating row covers needed if planting earlier than that.
Potatoes (Early) 121' 3"1' 1" x 1' 7"Keenebec Seed. DIRECT SOW in black plastic bags. Planted in M.G. Potting soil with no ammendments.
Raspberry 12' 3"1' 11" x 2' 11"
Rhubarb 12' 11"2' 11" x 2' 11"
Spinach 217"5" x 11"DIRECT SOW on March 30. They appear to be growing slowly but look ok. Only two sets of leaves so far on May 11th.
Squash (Summer) 81' 11"1' 11" x 1' 11"Started inside in May. Shot up and very leggy. ((DIRECT SOW NEXT YEAR)) 7/31: squash doing ok, squash beetles are eating leaves.
Strawberry 81' 7"1' 5" x 1' 11"Transplanted on May 10th. Mulched with staw. Half the plants don't look too happy, maybe because of too much rain. Others look ok and have kept their flowers on May 11th. Starwbeeries are extremely happy in their new home!
Sunflower 711"11" x 11"Planted with cukes. 7/31: Doing great. All have done very well.
Tomato (Small) 201' 7"1' 5" x 1' 11"I STARTED INDOORS but am lacking serious attention to these seedlings. Most are not going to make it. Lack of regular water and fertilizer and attention is killing them. I don't think I can save more than a few plants. Bought some healthy ones as a backup. Will need to research and study more for next year. :-( UPDATE 6/20: With the high volumne of rain we've been having for the past month and a half, I lost two tomato plants because they were overcome with leaf spot (early blight). I pulled them out and treated all others with "Mancozeb" fungicide. Replacing lost ones with two more. Next Treatement due @ June 30th if needed. 7/31: Blossom end rot on one plant. Most of the others seem to be doing well.
Zucchini 201' 11"1' 11" x 1' 11"Started inside in May. Shot up and very leggy. ((DIRECT SOW NEXT YEAR)) 7/31: Doing well. Squash beetles are eating the leaves tho.
