Potatoes (Maincrop)
| 59 | 1 | planted 3-24-12. The whole box. Homemade and storebought compost. Organic humus from Lowe's. Am debating straw vs manure fill in. Will probably use manure to start. 5-7-12 I totally covered the plants with Mel's Mix and it really worked, they popped right up within a day or so and had to be covered again. Now the whole box is full of dirt and I will just let the plants grow the rest of the way. 10" of potatoes should grow along the stalks. Sophie has part of a box right next to it planted too. It was so amazing how fast they came through the dirt. It was a pain to have to mix up the Mel's Mix in the wheelbarrow each time, it would take about 3 mixes to cover them each time. I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out. Hope no diseases come. 6-24-12. Some of the plants looked like they were dying but new growth has also happened so some look relal good. |
