EARLY JUNE: *OUTSIDE*- edamame - 108 sow early june FALL: - plant cover crops in fall? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qnz6yACL-Cw or plant 7-8 wks prior to last frost in Spring. Peas are easy to germinate, add nitrogen to soil, grow in cold temps (certain other cover crops won't be good in spring bc they won't germ. in cold weather). Legumes need an inoculant to germinate them. They need a nitrogen fixing bacteria... see video ^. Do not let them go to seed/flower. Must be terminated before it gets to seed production stage. Crimping = taking a board and smashing them down when time to terminate. Too dense of a cover crop can suffocate the soil life underneath... not sure what this means but doesn't sound good. haha - GARLIC - 40 mid oct (bought min. amount - 1lb - roughly 40 cloves of German Extra Hardy organic bulbs from johnny's feb. 2024) EARLY FEBRUARY: - ginger - plant indoors early Feb, plant out in May, harvest October SEED STARTING MIX RECIPE: https://www.epicgardening.com/seed-starting-mix-2/ Basic Peat-Free DIY Seed Starting Mix (the Epic Starter): 1 part coconut coir + 1 part pumice or perlite + 1 part compost (this part can contain up to half its volume in worm castings) + a sprinkling of azomite.
