Beet
Detroit Dark Red Organic
| 3 | 5" | 3" x 7" | Delicious beets. They tolerate the partial shade this area of the garden has. 2yr old seeds did not fare well, though. Great peeled, cut and microwaved with some vinegar water. |
|
Corn
On Deck Hybrid
| 1 | 1' 1" | 11" x 1' 5" | New plant this year. Will try on deck. Would like to plant the front boxes with them next year maybe... |
|
Cucumber
Straight Eight
| 1 | 1' 11" | 1' 11" x 1' 11" | Almost all seeds took and had too many cucumbers. Gave it more room and will plant fewer seeds this year. VERY large heavy cucumbers so need heavy duty staking and twine. |
|
Gladiolus
| 5 | 11" | 7" x 9" | |
|
Iris
| 16 | 11" | 7" x 1' 1" | |
|
Lettuce (Leaf)
Gourmet Blend Organic
| 50 | 3" | 3" x 5" | GREAT blend of lettuce. One type was so robust, we still had some throughout the winter during mild times. It has started regrowing already this year without being planted. Will replant after turning soil. It doesn't mind partial shade. Guinea pig LOVES it! |
|
Peas
Wando Organic
| 8 | 3" | 3" x 7" | Strung these guys up last year. Would have liked more production, but they were in the shadiest part of the garden, so I guess I can't expect too much. This year, moved them to deck boxes next to the arbor. Will wind them through the arbor. Really pretty little flowers that the pollinators loved, even hummingbirds! |
|
Pepper
Chinese Giant Organic
| 2 | 1' 1" | 11" x 1' 3" | Planted 3 in the space for 2 last year and had a riotous cucumber next to it on one side and a truly insane tomato plant on the other. Stole all the sun and choked them out so only saw a few peppers. The ones we got were sweet and intense and delicious! Moved the tomato to a pot this year. Will put 2 plants in the ground next to lettuce. Hoping for more output. |
|
Squash (Summer)
Early Summer Crookneck Organic
| 1 | 1' 11" | 1' 11" x 1' 11" | New plant for this year. Fingers crossed. |
|
Tomato (Large)
Damsel Hybrid
| 1 | 1' 7" | 1' 5" x 1' 11" | This is a truly amazing plant. The tomatoes are robust and delicious, and the plants last year reached over 6 feet tall and produced WAY too many tomatoes. I moved it out of the garden since it choked out some of my plants last year and am trying it in a deck box instead. Fingers crossed. |

Zucchini
Fordhook Zucchini
| 1 | 1' 11" | 1' 11" x 1' 11" | New plant for this year. Fingers crossed. |
